After I installed the key box on the wall I had to take it down to adjust the time for daylight savings time. When reattatching it to the wall the pin on the mounting bracket fell off. I tried to contact customer service for GE but the never got back to me. GE customer service is terrible, I guess they don't stand behind their products.
RobW October 8, 2008 After several years of use a changed combination would not work -- the combo was tested twice before reinstalling. At that time I discovered that a large heavy object, a rock for example, hit on the open button would release the key. I do not know if this would work on a new unit, but would not feel secure with the same unit.
Not Bad, for what I need it for May 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the GE AccessPoint KeySafe Battery-Powered Digital Key Box, White #001882 about 4 weeks ago to keep track of the care taker coming to my home. I love it to a certian extent. It is easy to use and install. My husband did it within 10-20 min.br /br /I only have 3 issues with this lock box. br /br /The first is that no matter how tight I screw the key into the holder that pops out of the bottom of the key box. It constantly comes loose. It is very irritating, just because I am always having to keep adjust it with a screw driver. If it is not located in the correct position your key won't fit into your door knob. br /br /The second is that I wish it really did have the capability to have different combinations for different people using it. br /br /The third is It would be easier to be able to use a number more then once in the combination code.br /br /Otherwise it does it's job. It serves its purpose.
Solid Construction - No More Lost Keys August 23, 2007 After having owned the GE AccessPoint Slimline KeySafe 2-Key Case, White #001413 and giving it to a friend from Germany, the choice was either to replace the existing one or upgrade to something more advanced.br /The AccessPoint KeySafe is certainly more advanced, you can see what day and time someone accessed the key.br /Improvements I'd like to see:br /- Multiple codes (different for contractors, friends, family)br /- Enter codes only one way (123 shouldn't work for 32123 - currently, the length or the order of the code doesn't matter)br /- Multiple key support. The Slimline has room for a couple of keys and doesn't have the keys fixed, so it's easier to use the key(s) as well.br /Other than that, it's a great product and looks professional.
It's Great Except.... June 14, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I really like this key safe. It was easy to program the code and install. It is sturdy, well made and even if someone knocks it off the wall they still wont be able to get the key out! The only gripe I have is the screw hardware for fastening the key to the bottom part that snaps into the device is flimsy and cheaply made. You cant get the screw tight enough to hold the key on tightly. The more I turned the screw the more the cheap hardware folded up, till it wouldnt hold the key on at all. I ended up going to a hardware store and buying a small screw and threaded washer assembly and a couple of small washers and rigged up a much better fastening system that holds the key tightly! I would have given it 5 stars but cmon...what would it have cost the manufacturer to include better quality hardware..
